I went and gave the Best Western Golden Buff hotel a call today
regarding getting a block of rooms and went ahead and blocked off 20
rooms (10 singles, 10 doubles) with my Visa card. No worries -- they
won't charge my card anything. The dates I reserved the above rooms
were for the nights of October 6th and 7th.
They said that should people reserve more of one kind of room than the
other that they would be flexible in allocating a different set of rooms
-- as long as they had them, so reserve early! The single rooms have, I
believe, one queen sized bed while the double rooms have two queen sized
beds. As I said before, the rooms are pretty nice; I wouldn't have any
problems staying at one of them myself. The hotel is about .7 miles
away from the dojo.
They have two tiers of room quality -- "good" and "better." The good
rooms are cheaper and run $79 for the single and $89 for the double.
The better rooms run $10 more for both rooms. The group rate gives up
10% off, too.
I asked for the meeting room for the Saturday evening gathering but,
unfortunately, it was already taken. However, they told me they had a
suite (separate rooms and stuff) right above the meeting room of pretty
much the same size that I could reserve which I went ahead and did.
I'll try to stop by and take a look at the place sometime later. The
suite itself is $93 for that night.
Although the rooms have been blocked off under my name, people still
need to get together and figure out the roommate situation. Each room
needs someone to give the Golden Buff a call to reserve the room under
your name. Once again, the rooms are _not_ reserved yet; you need to
call them to reserve the room!

"AIKIDO-L" (appropriately enough) and our reference number, should they
need it, is 305972.
The rooms will be held in the block until September 6th, one month
before the date of the Seminar. At that point if we haven't filled up
the 20 rooms yet, the rest of the rooms will become released and people
will need to do individual reservations through the hotel.
I would appreciate it if/when people gave Golden Buff a call and
reserved a room that you let me know so I can keep track of stuff.
